Job Description

As a Senior Technical Office Engineer – Mechanical, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the technical aspects of mechanical engineering projects. You will be involved in-depth in the review, coordination, and approval of shop drawings, addressing technical issues, and ensuring compliance with project standards and specifications.

Your responsibilities will encompass the following key areas:

  • Contract Document Review:
  • Thoroughly review project contract documents, including time schedules, design drawings, and Bills of Quantities (BOQ).
  • Ensure a clear understanding of project requirements and specifications.
  • Shop Drawing Management:
  • Update the shop drawing log with relevant information before submitting drawings to the consultant for approval.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with project design and specifications in all shop drawings.
  • Request for Information (RFI) Preparation:
  • Identify and prepare RFIs for any missing, unclear, or conflicting technical information during construction.
  • Coordinate the resolution of technical matters with the project consultant.
  • Sub-Contractor and Outsourced Shop Drawing Review:
  • Review shop drawings submitted by subcontractors and external vendors.
  • Coordinate the approval process with the project consultant, addressing any discrepancies or concerns.
  • Technical Issue Resolution:
  • Participate in resolving unexpected technical difficulties and problems that may arise during construction.
  • Report issues to the Technical Office Manager for discussion and implementation of proper solutions.
  • As-Built Drawings:
  • Prepare accurate as-built drawings at the conclusion of the project.
  • Hand over completed drawings to the project consultant for record-keeping.
  • Compliance and Standard Adherence:
  • Ensure that all work complies with project standards, industry codes, specifications, and design instructions.
  • Conduct regular checks to confirm adherence to established guidelines.
  • Construction Detail Preparation:
  • Prepare detailed drawings required for all construction items, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Coordination with Different Disciplines:
  • Collaborate with other disciplines, including electrical, structural, and architectural teams.
  • Ensure coordination and integration of mechanical drawings with drawings from other disciplines.

Job Requirements

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in mechanical shop drawings, preferably in a technical office environment.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
